Coach Best looking ahead
to familiarise himself with the various playing conditions in the Cayman Islands in preparation for a second visit in two weeks' time.
Currently in the Caribbean island with the Bermuda Under-20 national squad for matches against the host country on Sunday and Tuesday in the CONCACAF Zone World Cup qualifier, Best hopes to size up conditions to assist the senior national team in their two-match series against Cayman and Cuba in the Shell Caribbean Cup next month.
Bermuda Football Association yesterday announced official dates for the Shell matches which have Bermuda playing the Caymans on May 8 and Cuba on May 10.
Aldwyn Savery, chairman of the BFA's coaching committee said: "I am quite certain that Mr. Best will not only be focusing on the job at hand for the Under-20s, but evaluating the conditions and facilities in order to properly prepare the senior team for their tournament next month.'' Bermuda and the Caymans were supposed to play their World Cup qualifier on a home and away basis, but at Bermuda's request both games were considered for one venue -- and Caymans got the nod. But the BFA have refused to reveal how the decision was reached.
It was reportedly felt that it would make more economic sense for both countries if the games were played at one venue.
