While most people will be relaxing, numerous Island cyclists -- including Elliot Hubbard -- will be on the road in the annual Boxing Day Century Ride.

Friday's ride starts at 8.00 a.m. at the Front Street flagpole and encompasses four 25-mile laps. The group will ride through Hamilton every 90 minutes, meaning riders who wish to take part in shorter distances can join in, meeting at the flagpole at 9.00 a.m., 10.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m.

Hubbard, coming off his first year on the European professional circuit, will ride the entire distance, albeit at a much slower pace than he is accustomed.

Bermuda Bicycle Association president and event organiser Greg Hopkins said the ride is a "social event'' and riders of all abilities are encouraged to come out and attempt one of the distances.
