Eagles, Hamilton Parish in goal-fest
Just a week after defaulting to Wolves, Somerset Eagles bounced back to be involved in the highest scoring match of the season in the Second Division.
However, their troubles continued with two players -- Oscar Riley and Gladstone Wade -- being sent off in the 89th minute for persistent misconduct.
Parish also finished the match short, as they had Chris Caisey sent off late in the second half for swearing.
But the goals were certainly not in short supply as Eddie Callendar gave Eagles the lead in the 12th minute only for Glenn Smith to equalise in the 16th. Jerome Richards and Terrence Christopher scored in the 22nd and 23rd minutes to give Eagles a 3-1 cushion only to see Trinn Burgess and Joe Lathan reply in the 37th and 44th minutes to leave it all square at 3-3 at the half.
Lathan netted twice, in the 52nd and 54th minutes to give Parish a two-goal lead at 5-3, but stubborn Eagles came charging back with a second goal from Christopher in the 68th minute and a second from Callendar in the 80th to make it 5-5.
Glenn Smith, who had hit the post with Parish leading 5-4, notched the winner three minutes from the end.
Social Club 1, Devonshire Cougars 3 Leaders Devonshire Cougars found Social Club to be formidable opponents for the first 45 minutes, then the Cougars took the upper hand and never turned back.
Veteran Dale Russell gave Cougars a 1-0 lead, but the scores were levelled at the half when Dean Young grabbed an equaliser after 33 minutes.
Cougars lifted their output when play restarted and the renewed energy they displayed soon rewarded them with the go-ahead goal after just five minutes when Troy Burgess netted to make it 2-1.
Although Social Club continued to fight hard, Cougars put the result out of reach when Dapo Frederick scored after 75 minutes.
Wolves 6, Paget 0 Unpredictable Wolves unleashed pent-up vengeance on an awestruck Paget at Devonshire Rec., in a match featuring two teams at opposite ends of the spectrum.
Midfielder Shannon Berkeley blasted a first half hat-trick for coach Jack Castle's schizophrenic Wolves outfit, with further strikes coming from Marlon Lindsay (two) and Khari Sharrieff.
Wolves bolted to 16 points and second place in the Daihatsu Second Division on goal difference ahead of idle BAA, but still three points shy of leaders Devonshire Cougars.
Port Royal 2, Prospect 0 Port Royal moved a step further from the Second Division trenches with a hard-fought triumph over visiting Prospect at White Hill field.
Nakia Smith headed the home side into the lead in the first half, while Michael Bean completed the scoring in the second as he side-footed home a corner.
