First round breeze for holders Village
FA Cup holders North Village breezed into the second round with a comfortable victory over First Division Boulevard at St. John's Field.
Dwight Warren grabbed two goals and Jamaul Boyles and Quincy Paynter one apiece as the Red Devils got more convincing as the match went on.
Boulevard's best spell came just after the break when, trailing 1-0, they won a free kick just outside the six-yard box after Village 'keeper Zane Hendrickson was penalised for picking up the ball twice.
The entire Village team lined up under their own crossbar and Stevie Wade's shot was deflected over. That was as good as it got for the Blazers.
Warren latched onto Michael Hansey's through ball to net Village's first in the 32nd minute.
Their second came on the hour when Kevin Jennings' long cross-field ball was volleyed first-time by Hansey and although Paget 'keeper Kimulandar Walker clawed it away, Jamaul Boyles hammered in the rebound.
Boyles set up the next two goals with glorious passes, the benficiaries Quincy Paynter in the 64th minute and Warren, who claimed his second with a left-foot finish eight minutes later.
Village coach Scott Morton was unimpressed however. "It's good to win, but our performance was unacceptable,'' he said.
"I thought we could have been a lot more composed and we lost possession much too easily.'' Boulevard: K.Walker, K.Darrell (T.Caisey 42 mins), M.Trott, R.Wilson, M.Roberts, S.Wade, V.Eve, D.Samuels, L.Dill (T.Walker 61 mins), V.Phillips (D.Darrell 86 mins), A.Brown.
