Forgesson takes victory in stride
when he decimated a depleted field in the Evian 10-Mile road race.
However, while top runners Tracy Wright, Kavin Smith and Mark Perry were all absent this could not take away from the performance put in by Forgesson.
The New Zealand native clearly relished the mild conditions as he scorched around the course, which took the runners from near Botanical Gardens along South Shore Road to the Paynter's Road junction and back, in a time of 53 minutes, 32 seconds.
Leading virtually from the start, he was never challenged, using a 5:21 mile pace to finish nearly five minutes ahead of second place competitor Neil de Ste. Croix (58:27).
In third place was Vernon Tankard (59:12), while Paul Edness (59:36) and leading master Harry Patchet (59:44) rounded out the top five.
Forgesson added to the triumph he recorded in the Wheels Limited 10-K three weeks ago and appears to be rounding into top form heading toward next month's annual Marathon Derby.
Among the women, Maria Conroy-Haydon, who likewise was victorious during the Wheels Limited event, emulated that feat when she crossed the line ahead of Lynn Kynoch, clocking 1:00:31 compared to 1:03:55 for the latter.
Trailing in third was Anna Eatherley (1:05:21), with Jane Christie (1:06:38) fourth and Annette Booth (1:07:43) finishing fifth.
Mike Whalley (1:00:04) was second master in the male division and Adrian Robson (1:04:09) third.
On the female side Christie took top honours.
