Frigerio in men's final; Butterfield eyes double

In women's action, Gill Butterfield fought from a set down in two different categories to advance to the women's doubles and mixed doubles finals.

First she and Kelly Holland came from a set down and then 1-4 in the second set to defeat Gretchen Devlin and Barbara Lambert 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-4.

Butterfield then teamed up with Mike Curry to beat the husband and wife team of Heidi and Graham Boyle 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. In both matches Butterfield and her partners were top seeds.

Meanwhile the second seeded pair of Clair and Stuart Smith beat sixth seeds Gretchen Devlin and Mark Cordeiro 7-5, 6-4 to set up the final between the two top seeds. Butterfield and Holland will take on Marne Johnson and Kathy Stuhler in tomorrow's final.

In other action Earl Leader defeated Ray Knight 6-3, 6-4 and will meet John Moore (a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Dick Mount) in the men's 45 final.

There were two family teams in action also. Wendy Gelhay teamed with her father Rene to beat Karen and Jay Terrell 6-1, 0-6, 6-1 while Audrey and Stuart Smith beat Sheila Gelhay and Coleridge Place 6-2, 6-3 in the century mixed.
