Both admitted that they were on the Island with hopes of being chosen to play for the club during this Saturday's first round Eastern Counties clash against Flatts.

Smith has been in sparkling form for Northumberland League club Benwell, topping the batting averages with an average of 87, while Gibbons has similarly shone, already having amassed 800 runs in the Essex League.
