the British Virgin Islands in their opening World Cup qualifier in Tortola yesterday -- after team member Kentoine Jennings was sent off just nine minutes into the match.
Goater, the Manchester City striker, showed his class, grabbing goals in the 34th, 47th and 63rd minutes -- the third from a penalty -- to give Bermuda a hefty lead to take into the second leg at the National Stadium in two weeks' time.
Defender Jennings, though, had given his side the toughest of starts when he disputed a throw-in decision and was dismissed for using foul and abusive language.
The four-goal cushion almost certainly means that both Goater and Lightbourne will be spared from selection for the second leg to concentrate on their promotion campaigns with City and Stoke respectively.
