Hawley and Doble honoured by BTA
only fitting that she was named the Bermuda Triathlon Association's Female Athlete of the Year.
Andrew Doble, a BTA vice president, was named Male Athlete of the Year, dislodging former winner -- and current BTA president -- Neil de ste Croix.
The two were honoured at the BTA's annual awards dinner on Tuesday night at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club.
Hawley, 34, was the runaway winner for virtually every Island triathlon except the National Championships, which she did not enter. She also turned in a strong performance at a competition in Canada.
Doble won the National Championships.
Tyler Butterfield, who won the US Junior Championships and the Bank of Bermuda Triathlon, and Laurie Orchard, were named most improved triathletes.
Other winners were: Lea Butterfield and David Cash (best new triathletes); Talia Foa and Greg Bernius (spirit award); Patrick Hackenberg (club person of the year); Bruce Barritt (long service award).
