Hotels close in on crown

Hotels moved within two points of clinching the Second Division crown with a 1-0 victory over strugglers Paget at St. John's Field yesterday.

Clifford Roberts sealed the deal for the home side with a 29th minute strike.

Hotels moved onto 33 points with three matches remaining and lead second place Wolves and Somerset (third) by five points. Both Wolves and Trojans have played one game more.

Prospect 1 Wolves 9 Wolves continued their rich scoring vein with this shellacking of Prospect at Police Field.

Striker Khari Sharrieff bagged his second consecutive four goal haul, running roughshod over a leaky defence.

The visitors got off to a torrid start and led 2-0 after just 10 minutes, with Sharrieff and Joey Rego the scorers.

Prospect showed a glimmer of resistance as Lawrence Holder pulled them back to within one midway through the half and that scoreline held until the break.

However, any hope of staying close evaporated soon after the restart as the floodgates opened with Sharrieff leading the way, notching three more strikes, while Rego added his second, Mike Dill scored twice and Ricky Nesbitt added another.

Wolves overtook Somerset in the standings by virtue of a now superior goal difference.

The Devonshire outfit have scored an amazing 17 goals in their last three games.

Social Club 2 Som. Eagles 4 Eagles came from behind to score a comfortable victory over Social Club at PHC despite losing hat-trick hero Dijaun Simons after 84 minutes.

Coolridge Bell shocked Eagles with a goal for Social Club after 12 minutes, but Eagles clawed their way back to take a 3-1 lead at the half on goals by Simons (2) and Dion Woolridge.

Rambert Hill Simons pulled one back for Social Club early in the second half but Dijaun Simons then put the result out of reach with his third goal of the game.

Somerset Trojans 4 BAA 1 The Trojans kept their promotion hopes alive with this crushing home victory on Saturday night, but their failure to make this triumph even more convincing may yet prove costly.

They had enough chances to win by a far more commanding score, but time and time again coach Randy Horton saw his forwards fail to find the mark. Everett Wellman and Lamal Crofton led their attack with two goals apiece. They led 3-0 at the half.
