It was Singleton's first World Cup event this year and a first step towards qualification for next year's Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. The field featured 43 of the world's top lugers.

Singleton was due to fly to Salt Lake City today, where he will compete in another World Cup event on the Olympic track this week.
