month's Nation's Cup in Jamaica.

The pair will tee off against 25 other countries having two-member squads at the spacious SuperClubs Golf Club at Runaway Bay, on October 5-8.

Administered by the European PGA Tour, the tournament is the successor to the World Cup regional qualifying event held in previous years at the same venue.

All countries from Europe, Africa, North, Central and South America, that are not exempt for the EMC World Cup are eligible to compete, with the provision that the players submitted are registered professionals.

The Nations Cup is a 72-hole stroke play competition for teams of two players, with the first and third rounds being played in foursomes -- alternate shot -- format, while the second and fourth rounds involve four-ball, better-ball format.

After two rounds the field will be cut to the leading 20 teams and ties. The top three finishers gain automatic entry to the World Cup, set for December 4-10 in Argentina.

Any ties for the third spot will be separated via sudden death play-off.

Meanwhile, the World Cup will see 24 teams competing in Buenos Aires, featuring the leading 18 players -- each of different nationality -- from the official world rankings as of August 28.

Tiger Woods appears set to lead the charge, carrying David Duval -- injury permitting -- as his playing partner, while other notables include Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez and Jose Maria Olazabal, Thomas Bjorn of Denmark and France's Jean Van de Velde.

Prize money for the World Cup is $3 million, while there is none for the Nations Cup.

VILLAGE TO INVESTIGATE VIOLENCE SOC Village to investigate violence The fallout continued following Saturday's incidence of violence at BAA Field during the Martonmere Cup, with North Village yesterday announcing that they had launched an investigation.

"North Village Community Club takes a dim view of the actions perpetrated at BAA Field on Saturday night ,'' stated a press release from the club. "We do not condone in any way the actions that took place.'' The release further stated how the culprits involved in heaping the spectre of violence upon the game, and indeed the sport of soccer, were actively being sought.

Village have notified the governing Bermuda Football Association of their intentions and will meet in the near future to discuss their findings.

Saturday's Martonmere Cup match between Somerset and North Village was thrown into turmoil after Somerset's Paul Maybury knocked out Vernon Tankard of Village, resulting in the latter being taken away by ambulance.

Both men were ejected from the game, however Maybury and assistant coach Gary Mallory were later attacked by a group of supposed fans as they made their way to the dressing rooms, with police later called to the scene.
