North Village's seldom-used midfielder Keith Jennings has had his name taken off the list of nominees for the category of Young Player of the Year.

In a release yesterday, the National Football Awards Committee (NFAC) said that they were forced to take this action after learning of the "disciplinary problems'' the player has experienced during the season.

The Committee's statement read: "With regard to the 1994 Kempe & Whittle National Football Awards, the NFAC have had to disqualify Keith Jennings from the list of nominees for the category of Young Player of the Year.

"It is the intention of our organisation to reward outstanding soccer athletes and provide role models for the Island's young aspiring soccer players. We feel that discipline is a very important aspect in the criteria for winning such an award.

"We have discovered that Mr. Jennings has had certain discipline problems, the details of which we are not able to disclose, and is subsequently ineligible for this award.

"The selection committee has named Kwame Tucker of Somerset Trojans to replace Jennings. The other nominees are Jamah Samuels, Quincey Aberdeen and Dean Bailey.'' The inaugural awards banquet is scheduled for April 16 at Sonesta Beach Hotel at 8 p.m.
