Parish punished as Village strike back

Goals in the second half by Elliott Jennings and Kaiwon Dill saw home side North Village come from behind to deflate newly-promoted Hamilton Parish in this First Division game at Bernard Park.

Until Jennings struck the equaliser after 63 minutes, a spirited Parish side looked as though they might deliver coach Ricky Hill victory in his first-ever match as a full-time coach. But it was not to be.

The goal deflated Parish spirits, taking them from a hard-fighting unit that grabbed the initiative in the first half to a tired, punchless squad with few ideas when they went forward.

With the veteran Jennings spearheading a revival by Village in the second half, Parish rarely seemed capable of fighting back although Corey Hill could have found the goal with luck after a couple of forays into the penalty box where he lost possession.

During a first half that clearly belonged to Parish they grabbed the lead after 24 minutes when former Village player Sean Dill, now skipper of his new team, converted a fine cross from Devon Brangman after a brilliant dribble by Hill.

It was a goal that seemed on the cards as Parish pushed purposefully forward.

Village's attacks, meanwhile, broke down time and time again with most of their key players guilty of misdirecting passes and shots at crucial moments.

But Village lifted their pace and rhythm in the second half.

Once Devon Brangman crossed for Jennings to score the equaliser from close in it marked the beginning of the end for Parish.

Village pinned them down until the final whistle, Kaiwon Dill breaking Parish's hopes of a share of the points after 85 minutes when he scored from an angle on the left.

Parish finished with 10 players after midfielder Leon Raynor was sent off a minute from time following a second booking.
