Parsons stuns PHC: Second Division
A goal by substitute Michael Parsons after 71 minutes sent Second Division leaders PHC plunging to their first loss of the season at Southampton Oval yesterday.
While still heavily favoured to win promotion this season, PHC are learning an important lesson -- that they can't take anybody for granted. In this match their teachers were a pesky Social Club outfit for whom veteran Roydon Holdipp did a trojan job in midfield.
PHC held a decisive edge in territorial play throughout the game, but their forwards let them down when they reached the penalty box.
Social Club will now be anxious to have their make-up game against Prospect scheduled as soon as possible as a win would take them ahead of the Zebras at the top of the standings.
Paget 2 St. George's 0 Two-and-a-half years after finishing third in the First Division and winning the Friendship Trophy, St.George's hit rock bottom at White Hill Field yesterday.
The east enders crashed to their third loss in four outings to drop to the bottom of the Second Division, still without a win as Paget scored once in each half to earn their first league victory of the season.
Jaja Williams broke the deadlock in the 20th minute and Pond Jennings got the second in the 65th minute to lift Paget two places off the bottom.
Ir.Rangers 0 Som.Eagles 2 Somerset Eagles moved into early season promotion contention when two second half goals gave them victory at Somerset.
Jelani Butterfield netted both goals, finally breaking the deadlock in the 78th minute and adding a second for good measure in the last minute as Eagles moved into second place on goal difference.
