The Prospect Cup competition started with a soccer match at National Stadium for the Karl Hofer Sr, Memorial Cup in memory of the organiser's deceased father. The Austrians won the match convincingly 5-1 after leading 2-1 at the half.

The event was fully sanctioned by the Bermuda Football Association and for what is believed to be the first time in Bermuda, the Austrian National Anthem was played in honour of the visitors before the game.

Associate Police member Kenny Thompson scored Bermuda's lone goal with a shot from 18 yards.

In the tennis match, the Bermuda Police recovered from the earlier defeat with a convincing victory over the Austrians, 18-6.

The winning ways continued for Bermuda with a six-mile road race from Police Headquarters to Flatts via Middle Road and then back along North Shore road to Prospect. The race was won by Pc Steve Donnelly in a time of 37.17 with second going to Sgt. Simon Groves in 40.44.

Further competition resumed with golf at the Southampton Princess where, despite threatening weather and gusty winds, Bermuda dominated.

The final event was the tug 'o' war at the Police field, where the Bermuda team overpowered their opponents to finish as overall winners, 56 points to 32.

An invitation has already been extended to the Bermuda Police to go to Austria next year for a return match.
