League Men's A Division title in a thrilling finish to the season.

They actually lost their final fixture, two matches to one against closest challengers Coral Beach, but only a 3-0 defeat would have been enough to deny them the title.

Port Royal, whose team included Davis Cup players Ricky Mallory and Jensen Bascome, plus Steve Bean, Mark Cordeiro, Eugene Simmons and David Lambert, finished top of the all-doubles league with 58 points, four points ahead of Coral Beach.

Port Royal also won the Men's B Division title, while in the Women's League, Pomander Gate topped the A Division and Police were the B Division champions.

The A Division pairs knockout competition, starting at 9.00 a.m. on Saturday at the Tennis Stadium, will round off the winter season.

Winter League presentations will take place on Saturday night at The Club, Bermudiana Road, Hamilton, from 7.00 to 10 p.m.

FIFA REFEREE TO LECTURE LOCALS SOC FIFA referee to lecture locals Top American soccer official Alfred Klienaitis, Director of Referees' Education for the United States Soccer Federation, is scheduled to arrive in Bermuda soon to conduct a series of courses.

Once ranked as the most outstanding FIFA referee in the US, Klienaitis will run a programme for all practising referees and others wishing to officiate during his stay.

The courses will be held at the conference room of St. Brendan's Hospital from April 13-18 -- from 5.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on Monday to Friday and from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on the Saturday.

Aldwyn Savery, vice-president of Bermuda Football Association, said Bermuda were privileged to have been able to attract such a distinguished official.

"He certainly has had a long and distinguished career as a FIFA referee. I met him in England last year and found him to be a very able and entertaining lecturer. We are hoping that as many people as possible will take advantage of his presence,'' said Savery.
