Salt Lake City, but still managed to finish.

After coming off his sled, Singleton pushed it over the finishing line and was thereby able to claim one World Cup point.

That could turn out to be crucial in his bid to qualify for next year's Winter Olympics, on the same Salt Lake City track.

The crash happened when the 26-year-old lost control of the luge at a corner, on what is reputed to be the fastest track in the world, during the first of two runs.

Singlton finished in 52nd place. Italy's Armin Zoggeler won the event, ahead of second-placed Austrian Markus Prock.
