Bailey's Bay skipper who endured an horrendous 1992 season.

Smith opened the new campaign with an unbeaten 39 against Hamilton Parish and last weekend's performance in a 126-run thrashing earns him accolades in this week's Fab Five.

Smith is joined by Stevie Lightbourne of Southampton, Irving Burgess and Chris Caisey of Hamilton Parish, and Graham Fox of St. George's.

Chris Smith: The left-hander stroked nine fours and four sixes before he was fourth out at 214. Bay slipped from 213 for two to 217 for six but the late order took them to the safety of 256 for seven when the innings closed.

Stevie Lightbourne: Recalled to the national team for the Pakistan tour, the tall right-hander accounted for St. David's top scorer James Pace (46) and then plundered the bowling attack for an unbeaten 74. Lightbourne struck 10 fours and two sixes.

Irving Burgess: This youngster has gone off the boil in recent years after showing great promise when breaking in with Bailey's Bay. Some of that former grit was in evidence in a dour 77 for Hamilton Parish against Flatts at Devonshire Rec. field. Was the key to the innings when it looked like Flatts were on the comeback from a 70-run opening stand. Burgess hit 10 fours and a six.

Chris Caisey: His day began ignominiously when he was ruled out for obstructing a fielder. But he bounced back with a five-wicket burst that left Flatts at 23 for five and virtually killed off their chances. Caisey finished with six for 31.

Graham Fox: A composed approach from the St. George's captain proved to be much of the difference in the weekend's only `shock' result. On a wicket of unpredictable bounce, Fox struck 50 to help rescue the east-enders from a poor start. He hit two fours and two sixes before falling to a splendid, diving catch in the deep by John Ray.
