St. George's keep colts trophy

St. George's CC 118-4 Ben Phipps and Oliver Pitcher Jr. combined to take six wickets between them to lead St. George's to a six-wicket victory over Somerset in a Colts Cup Match at Wellington Oval yesterday.

The triumph saw the eastenders retain the trophy.

With the St. George's duo in devastating form, the visitors found runs hard to score. Phipps took three for three from just 3.1 overs, including a maiden, while Pitcher had three for six from four overs, one of which was also a maiden.

The other bowler taking more than one wicket was skipper Jason Anderson who had two for 21 off eight overs, including three maidens.

Only four Somerset batsmen reached double figures. Adrian Burrows was top bat with 35 while Shawn Wade followed with 24, Ian Armstrong 13 and Eugene Johnston 10.

St. George's coasted to victory as openers Chris Foggo and Landro Minors got their innings off to a flying start with a stand of 49. Foggo scored 29 and Minors 14.

However, their top scorer was Coolridge Durham who struck 30. Others among the runs were skipper Anderson with 15 not out, Oliver Pitcher with 12 not out and Detroy Smith with 10.

Shane Hollis was the top bowler for the westenders with two for 15 off five overs, including one maiden.
