Swallows crowned league champions

Swallows A 3 Swifts A 0 Swallows wrapped up the A League title with this win, despite some stiff competition from Swifts' strongest side.

However, they had to wait until the 62nd minute to take the lead after Swifts had been reduced to 10 players.

Sam Adams netted from a narrow angle and two futher goals followed in quick succession.

Lisa Haynes made it 2-0 when she converted a penalty flick and Shelley Clement added a third.

Canaries A 2 Swifts A 2 Canaries needed a win to stay in contact with Swallows at the top of the A league. With this in mind, Swifts assigned Cathie Hay to mark the ever-dangerous Lisa DeSilva, and she did an outstanding job throughout the game.

Canaries got off the mark first and in response Swifts took out a defender and put another player up front. This tactic had the desired affect as Erica Frith equalised following a great run into the top of the circle.

With the game flowing from end to end, Canaries came back to score their second, but Swifts were level within two minutes when Melissa Durrant slipped the ball to Frith, who netted again.

As a result of the draw, Swallows became champions of the A league.

Cardinals A 1 Bluebirds A 1 Both teams had numerous opportunities to score but it was Cardinals who eventually went ahead when they were awarded a penalty stroke which was converted by Heidi Lynam.

Bluebirds continued to attack and equalised just before the half through the unmarked Sarah Maltby.

Cardinals B 1 Bluebirds B 1 An evenly matched game saw Cardinals score first when Maria Costello passed to Candy Foggo, whose shot from the top of the circle found Tiffany Calhoun, who tapped home.

Bluebirds rallied and got an equaliser through Ellen Charnley after a goalmouth scramble. The Blues were unlucky when a shot from Denise O'Donoghue went just wide.

Swallows B 1 Swifts B 2 Swallows were looking for a win to keep the race for the B league title close but Swifts had other ideas.

Emily Leitch opened Swifts' account, firing home after a well taken free hit from just outside the circle.

Swallows then equalised when Sandy Cram followed up on a deflected shot off the Swifts' keeper's pads.

But Swifts eventually got what proved to be the winner after Erica Frith broke away, saw her shot saved and Cathie Hay reacted quickly to pick up the rebound and convert.

Canaries B 1 Swifts B 1 The pace of the B game was in marked contrast to that of the A.

Neither team constructed many scoring opportunities but it was Canaries who finally went ahead with a goal by Sophie Kerr. Swifts changed their format at half-time, bringing in four forwards and within two minutes they were awarded a penalty stroke which was neatly converted by Erica Frith.

The game marked the last in Bermuda for Swifts' players Melissa Durrant, Lisete Moniz, Cathie Hay, Anne Marwick and Lesley Smith.

MEN'S LEAGUE Rebels 2 Police 2 Police came out firing on all cylinders and went 2-0 up within the first 20 minutes. This seemed to kick Rebels into action and they pulled a goal back before half-time from Simon van de Weg.

Rebels increased the pressure in the second-half and were rewarded for their efforts with a second goal from van de Weg.

BCS Panthers 5 Upstarts 1 The young Panthers provided their most encouraging performance of the season.

Finding themselves 2-0 up at half-time through goals by Darren Lewis and Jerome Overbee, they continued to exert pressure during the second half.

Chris Chapman, Lewis, and Andrew Schlebeck rounded out the scoring.

Chameleons v Wasps Chameleons won by default due to Wasps being unable to field a team.
