Rude Girls 2 PHC Zebras 1 A stunning strike from Tamisha Darrell set Rude Girls on the road to FA Cup glory in a come-from-behind victory over PHC at the National Stadium yesterday.

Overwhelming favourites going into the game, Rude Girls were made to fight all the way for the win which saw them prise the trophy from the hands of last year's champions and take the triple crown of league, FA and Konica Cup.

Their last encounter saw Rude Girls handing out a 9-0 thrashing to the Zebras, but there was little to choose between the two teams yesterday.

Pocket-dynamo Genevana Simons had put PHC ahead with a dazzling turn and shot in the 11th minute.

A free-kick was pumped into the box and Simons deftly controlled the ball before turning her marker and firing low into the net.

There was more misery for Rude Girls towards the end of the half when goalkeeper Tanika White was forced out of the game.

The 'keeper injured her right leg when she raced out to confront PHC's Tschana Wade and although she played on for a time the pain eventually became too much and she had to be replaced, Reeona Belboda going between the sticks.

PHC went into the break by far the happier team, but with only a goal advantage they knew they would have it all to do again after Rude Girls' half-time roasting.

The Zebras paid for failing to wrap up the game when their rivals equalised in the 61st minute.

A free-kick was half cleared by the PHC defence and when it fell to Darrell she hit it first time beyond the despairing reach of Kimisha Perinchief.

The leveller seemed to upset the Zebras and within 60 seconds they were down to 10 players when Wade got herself needlessly sent off.

Already booked in the first half, she was in the process of being substituted when she apparently swore on her way off the pitch.

Referee Irven Simmons heard the curse, marched over to the player before she could be replaced and gave her a second yellow and then a red card. The Rude Girls bench then unecessarily baited Wade and the player had to be held back after trying to confront them.

Matters went from bad to worse three minutes later when Dionne Pitt was adjudged to have handled in the box and Sakena Clarke made no mistake from the spot.

Simmons awarded a second penalty to Rude Girls in the last minute, this time for a foul on Naquita Dill, but the striker unusually made a hash of the kick and it was tipped over the bar by the excellent Perinchief.

"The first half we didn't play too well but at half-time I got into their heads and told them we needed to start playing,'' said Rude Girls coach Vance Brown, who said his side had worked hard all year for what they had achieved.

PHC's assistant coach Mark Simons said his team's inability to find the killer second goal had cost them, although he was proud of the way they performed.

"We missed two chances, one good one early in the game, and I think if we had scored that they would have been on their heels,'' he said.

PHC 10 Paget 1 PHC staged a second-half demolition act to destroy Paget in the Crystal Palace Youth Cup yesterday.

Having scored twice before the break in the match held at the National Stadium, the boys in black and white smashed in another eight in the second period. Scorers for the victors were Kalia Symons, Aqino Grant (two), Robert Richardson (two), Jonny Ball (two), Damian Swan, Joshua Scott and Lorenzo Boyles.
