The final games in the Miller High Life bowling league were played last week as another successful and competitive season drew to a close.
Not unexpected, the league finale featured exciting match-ups, especially the game between Tools & Equipment and Marlboro.
Marlboro won the latest battle with a 22-8 score with Richard Zuill rolling second high series of 639 and third high game of 239. Marlboro also posted second high team game of 994 and top series of 2,873. For T&E it was Dean Lightbourn closing out the season with the top series of 653 and teammate Ty Williams posting top game of 266 and third high series of 601. Tools also recorded the top team game of 1,019 and second high series of 2,825.
In another match, Stevedoring Services took a 21-9 victory over Goslings to secure third place. Miles Smith rolled the top series for the winners while Hank Rawlins was top man for Goslings.
Franklin Travel bested Tomps Towing 18-12 with Stephen Paul doing the damage for the winners, posting the second high game of 243 and top series while Victor Thompson was high man for the losers.
Signature Card held their place in the standings with the top win for the night with a 27-3 thrashing over New Mix Ups. A total team effort enabled Signature Card to post the evening's third high series of 2,744.
EQUESTRIANISM RAH Bermuda's three representatives in the 1992 Olympics Games in Barcelona are gearing up for a pair of major competitions.
Susie Dunkley will be competing in the world-renowned Goodwood International Dressage competition in England which continues until Sunday. She will be riding on the same horse -- Highness -- on which she competed at Barcelona.
The event is a crucial one for Dunkley, since Goodwood is considered a more important competition than the Olympics. There will be 18 countries participating.
Nicola DeSousa and Mary Jane Tumbridge will be in England the following weekend in the prestigious Four Star three-day event at Badminton, which is regarded as the world's top three-day event.
DeSousa will be competing on her Olympic mount Prairie King and during a one-day trial last weekend she finished in 11th place out of 46 competitors.
DARTS DRT The Grand League finals and President's Cup of the Bermuda Darts Association has been re-scheduled for Monday May 10 at the Vasco de Gama club. At that time, division champions will square off with Nationals facing Vasco II and Vasco III meeting Strike Zone.
The Unicorn championship will be held on Monday night at the BAA Clubhouse starting at 8 p.m. First division match-ups will feature defending champion and this year's top aggregate scorer Charles Roberts of Nationals I, Wayne Harvey of Vasco I and Jimmy Pratt.
In the second division, Paul Tatem and Tony Correia will go head-to-head and Aston Smith will represent the third division. Roger Raynor and Butch Krause are division four finalists.
There will also be a runner-up play-off between Steve Blee and Luis Symonds, who each have 47 tons. Aston Smith was champion with 49 tons.
