The year began with Gary Darrell quitting as national soccer coach, Joe Brown being fired from his BFA post and Meshach Wade and Kentoine Jennings being transfer-listed, and later released, by English third division club Hereford United.

In December, Bermuda's team brought home three medals from the CAC Games in Puerto Rico while the hammer also came down on Danny Seymour, who was fired as coach of Vasco, and on Ricky Hill who was dropped from Bermuda's ICC team for playing soccer.

In between, Peter Bromby defended his World IOD title, Brian Wellman was named Athlete of the Year, St. George's won the league title in cricket after an unbeaten 15-match run and Bailey's Bay recaptured the Eastern Counties title.

Joe Brown is fired from his $41,000 a year post as administrative assistant of the Bermuda Football Association. Clevie Wade is fired as coach of Hotels. Robert Calderon quits as coach of Dandy Town after demotion, later takes over from Wade at Hotels until the end of the season.

Meshach Wade and Kentoine Jennings transfer-listed by English club Hereford United. Kyle Lightbourne celebrated offer of a one-year contract at Scarborough by scoring his first goal for the club in a 3-2 win over Crewe.

Runner Jennifer Fisher is featured on the cover of launch issue of RG Magazine . Michael Bartoszak of Poland wins the Bank of Bermuda Elite Mile but fails, like so many others, to do a sub four-minute mile which was worth $10,000.

Five local records were also broken that night by Michael Donawa (secondary boys), Suella Matthews (primary girls), Spencer Butterfield (primary boys), Karen Adams (adult women) and Tyler Hall (adult men).

Marcos Barreto of Mexico and Ann Marie Letko of the United States are the men's and women's winners of the International 10-K in 30:01 and 34:07 respectively while Robert Yara wins second ADT Marathon in 2:31:42. Kim Goff wins women's race in 2:54:55.

Dwayne Pearman wins Ashworth BPGA Championships by two strokes over Kim Swan.

FEBRUARY Australian Brett Martin wins his third Bermuda Open squash title, beating Canada's Gary Waite in the final.

Charlie Marshall is chosen to lead Bermuda on their tour of Barbados in place of the injured Wendell Smith, but withdraws himself after suffering what was first feared to be a heart attack but later diagnosed by doctors in Baltimore as muscle spasms.

Bermuda Football Association begin their search for a Director of Coaching.

Association president Charlie Marshall admits to payments totalling some $5,000 to two senior officials, Mark Trott and Gerard Bean as compensation for time spent away from work during World Cup campaign. Shawn Goater has arthroscopic surgery on left knee, and is out for a month.

Perry Maybury regains captaincy at Somerset for 1993 cricket season. Winston Reid is in charge of coaching.

Western Stars win the Camel Cup for the first time, beating Bailey's Bay by 164 runs in the final. Ferdinand Thorne resigns as captain of Police, Dennis Archer takes over.

Brett Forgesson and Paul Edness are involved in fight after the finish of the Colonial Insurance End to End relay. Kavin Smith wins his first May 24 race, beating the record in the process with a time of 1:11:27. Anna Eatherley also got her first win when she led home the women in 1:21:58.

Triple jumper Brian Wellman is named Government's Athlete of the Year.

David Sabir is confirmed as the fifth BFA administrative assistant, beating out other applicants for the post vacated by Joe Brown.

JUNE Andrew Bascome returns to North Village as technical advisor.

Troy Douglas places third in the 400 metres at the Harry Jerome Track Classic.

Nick-Cole DeSilva receives an 18-month ban from the BTFA on the eve of the 1993 Heritage Classic for his attack on official Stan Douglas in the 1992 meet. The ban ends on January 4, 1994.

Mary Jane Tumbridge places fourth in the International Three-Star event in France. Pipe Dream takes line honours in the Daytona TransAtlantic Race.

George's, the oldest surviving former Cup Match player, dies at the age of 97.

Injury forces Wendell Smith to miss his first Cup Match since his debut in 1976.

Bermuda finish fifth at the International Youth Tournament in Denmark.

Hotels miss deadline to register for 1993-94 season. Extension is granted but the club later folds. Jack Castle quits as coach of PHC, money rumoured to be the chief reason.

Bridge finish the season as champions after a draw with Willow Cuts in the final. Bailey's Bay return the Eastern Counties Cup to Sea Breeze Oval for the first time since 1987 after beating St. David's in the final.

Jennifer Fisher, Terrylynn Paynter win silver medals at Central American and Caribbean Senior Championships in Cali, Colombia.
