Tucker strikes to rein in PHC's title gallop
PHC were stampeded out of first place in the Premier Division by a Dandy Town team that played with renewed vigour in the second half of this clash at Somerset on Saturday night.
Town romped to victory with goals by Lloyd Christopher and Reggie Tucker, reining in PHC's gallop towards the league title.
Both teams were clearly unsettled by the chilly night, the coldest of the winter, and the windy conditions didn't do any favours for either.
However, PHC's inability to crack Town's defence during the first half when they held a slight edge certainly led to their eventual downfall.
With the breeze at their backs PHC often drifted within striking range of the Town goal, but too often their forwards failed to get a shot in or put their efforts high or wide.
But it was Town who missed the best opportunity in the early stages when Tucker put a shot wide from 14 yards after just eight minutes.
Tucker didn't live to regret his miss as Town took advantage of PHC's first half profligacy to outplay their opponents in the second half.
Town, who entered the game in seventh place, took a deserved lead after 56 minutes when Seyoum Tuzo's blast from the right rebounded off goalkeeper Carlyle Crockwell and Christopher was there to poke it home from a few feet out.
PHC brought on schemer Kenny Mills for Duval Wilson after 60 minutes and he injected some life into the Zebras up front.
Their best effort came four minutes after his introduction when McLee Smith sent a hard volley just over the bar.
But Town added a second close to the end when Tucker's shot from 25 yards got the assistance from swirling winds and sailed over the head of a stranded Crockwell in the PHC goal.

S.Rangers 3 Boulevard 1 Southampton Rangers responded to a first half goal by Shaki Crockwell by scoring three times in the second half to earn a deserved victory over Boulevard in this Premier Division game at Southampton Oval yesterday.
Stunned by Crockwell's effort -- a fine header after nine minutes -- Southampton roared back and were eventually rewarded with goals by Kwame Tucker, Craig Darrell and substitute Janeiro Tucker.
The teams played most of the game with 10 players after Omari Hart, of Rangers, and Boulevard's Melvin Adam were sent off for fighting after 26 minutes.
Despite falling behind early, Southampton never panicked and had enough chances to have gained a comfortable lead by the break -- Hart, Darrell, Kwame Tucker and defender Ryan Belboda all putting shots either inches wide or over the bar.
Darrell also struck the post just before the interval.
Boulevard showed little imagination going forward and except for a thunderous shot from hard working midfielder Stevie Wade that sailed just over the bar after 60 minutes they seldom worried the Rangers defence.
The equaliser came after 63 minutes when Janeiro Tucker and Sheridan Ming combined to enable Kwame Tucker to slam the ball home from close range.
After goalkeeper Antoine Tuzo blocked a blast from Janeiro Tucker -- who followed up by placing a fiercely struck rebound from the same shot over from 14 yards -- Darrell made it 2-1.
It was Kwame Tucker whose work created the opening, and Darrell tucked in his 68th minute centre.
Then Janeiro Tucker put the game out of Boulevard's reach after he was put through the middle of a jaded defence by substitute Temiko Flood.

Somerset 2 Vasco 0 Premier Division champions Vasco were rocked by Trojans' two-goal blitz in the second half of their clash at Somerset on Saturday night.
Spearheading the West Enders were teenage twin Nasir Wade and striker Michael Brangman.
Vasco were poor for much of the night, creating few scoring chances, although forward Clay Smith and midfielder Clinton Caisey showed some promise.
The first half was scoreless although the Trojans deserved to be leading with Curtis Grant twice going close and skipper Karl Roberts heading a corner inches over.
It was no surprise when the home side took the lead, Nasir Wade heading home a cross from Franklyn Simmons after 65 minutes.

St. David's 1 Wolves 5 Wolves moved into third place in the Premier Division with this convincing victory over bottom of the league St. David's at Lord's yesterday.
The home side played above themselves during the first half by restricting Wolves to a lone goal by Nakia Smith after 10 minutes, but then they fell apart in the second half and could do little as Wolves pumped in four more.
Smith added his second, Nathan Webb got two himself and Sekai Waldron scored the other. St. David's solitary response came from Chae Simmons after 70 minutes.
The home side lost Del Hollis after 87 minutes, red carded by referee Irven Simmons after intentionally using his hands to prevent a ball from going into goal.
