Under-16s in action tonight
the Caribbean Football Union Youth Tournament with a match against Fire Services tonight at National Sports Centre (6.30 p.m.).
Coming off a 7-0 crushing of US Virgin Islands away from home, the Bermuda squad is anxious to maintain a cohesive blend, while Fire Services will be using the match as part of their build-up to the Fire Service Games in France, where soccer is a key element. Service are not a shabby outfit themselves, containing some five Premier League players, and actually defeated the Under 16s 2-1 in a previous encounter.
It will also provide a chance for the general public to view and show their support for a team loaded with talent, but without many opportunities to display it on home soil.
"We would like to get more support from the public, but it's difficult with us playing most of our matches away, especially now, with the finals taking place in Haiti,'' said team equipment manager Robert Moulder, whose son Christopher plays as an integral part of the defence.
"We hope that people will come out and watch what amounts to a free match, although we would like it if some donations were made.'' The finals run from July 24 to August 1.
Additionally, coach Kenny Thompson is due to take the team on a tour of Europe toward the end of August, with fixtures set against the likes of Tottenham Hotspur of England, Germany's Bayer Leverkusen, and Ajax and PSV in Holland.
