Vasco's livingston is heads-up
Veteran defender Donovan Livingston smartly headed home a free kick five minutes from time to give Second Division leaders Vasco victory against a tough Eagles team at St. John's field.
Vasco showed their true worth by coming from behind to snatch both points after Eagles had taken a 1-0 lead on a goal by Everett Wellman after 21 minutes.
Larance Durham drew Vasco level with a fine goal after 53 minutes but his celebratory antics cost him and his team. The forward, who had previously been booked by referee Stuart Crockwell, pulled off his jersey as he ran around the field with joy and was given his marching orders by the official.
A similiar style of celebrating also resulted in a booking for Dandy Town striker Lionel Cann in a recent match.
Vasco battled on with 10 men and just when it seemed as if the Eagles would hold on for a deserved draw Livingston settled it with his header.
Paget 0, Southampton 8 Second-placed Southampton Rangers remain one point behind the leaders with the two points from a game at Devonshire Rec. field that saw their opponents become frustrated at the end and finish up with just eight players.
When the teams last met in the league in November it was Rangers who got frustrated as Paget handed them their first league loss.
But after referee Richard Knight sent off Mark Tucker in the 83rd minute, and with the team already losing 6-0, two other Paget players threw in the towel in disgust and headed for the changing room.
Paget, who had hopes of another giant-killing act, made it tough for their opponents by restricting them to just one goal in the first half, which came from Ascento Russell. But Southampton had things their own way after the interval.
Russell and Corey Simmons led the onslaught with a hat-trick apiece while Ryan Belboda and Lamar Seymour got the other two goals.
Prospect 1, Wolves 2 Marlon Lindsay was ejected by referee Peter Sousa after 80 minutes but not before he had scored the winning goal in this game at Police field.
Derrick Lowe got the first goal for Wolves while Andrew Rollins netted for the home team.
BAA 1, Devonshire Cougars 1 There was little to choose between these two teams in a tough match at BAA field where both goals came in the first half.
BAA found the net through Allan Dill while the marksman for Cougars was forward Devon Brangman.
Social Club 1, Port Royal 0 Port Royal paid the penalty for blowing scoring chances in the first half of this game at PHC Stadium.
It was while Port Royal were pouring on the pressure in the early stages that Social Club caught them short in defence and snatched what proved to be the winning goal after 23 minutes.
Forward Dean Young took it smartly, collecting a through-ball down the left flank and racing through the middle to hammer his shot out of reach of goalkeeper Paul Hayward.
IT'S THERE -- Dean Young scores the only goal that Social Club would need in their 1-0 win over Port Royal at PHC Stadium yesterday.
