Wash-out rescheduled
has been rescheduled for tonight as the first part of a league double-header at Devonshire Rec.
The scheduled women's match which should have opened proceedings was cancelled after PHC Teasers withdrew from the league, creating the gap.
Referee Cal Simons was forced to postpone the Village/Dandy match about 40 minutes before the scheduled start at Bernard Park because heavy morning rain had left surface water and puddles in much of one goalmouth and on other sections of the pitch.
But the BFA acted swiftly to re-arrange it ahead of tonight's other contest which pits struggling PHC against title hopefuls Devonshire Colts.
A victory for reigning champions Colts would put them level on points with table-toppers Vasco and Boulevard who drew 3-3 in an action-packed game at St David's yesterday. Prospect 2 Social Club 2 Third-placed Prospect dropped two vital points when they drew with bottom team Social Club in a Second Division match at Police Field.
Social Club scored first but Lawrence Smith netted the equaliser after a Dwayne Leverock free kick deflected off the wall. Smith then put Prospect in front in the second half before Social Club equalised through Peter Sampson.
Just before the final whistle, Jerry Laws of Prospect rounded the Social Club goalkeeper and put his shot towards an open goal only to see the ball stop in a puddle.
The only other scheduled Second Division match, between east end neighbours St. George's and St. David's, was abandoned after 50 minutes after a heavy downpour flooded Wellington Oval. The match was still scoreless at the time and has now been rescheduled for next Sunday.
