trophy when they meet Devonshire Colts in the Martonmere Cup final at Somerset today (2.30 p.m.).

In last year's Martonmere final, Dennis Brown's team suffered the heartache of coming within 23 minutes of that elusive silverware, as they held a 2-1 lead over Dandy Town at the three-quarters mark.

But Pernell Douglas's 67th minute equaliser forced extra-time and despite being reduced to 10 men after Kevin Hurdle was sent off, Town clinched the cup with a 4-2 triumph.

This time Wolves will be up against a team who have been packing their trophy cabinet over the past couple of seasons, having previously earned the tag of `perennial bridesmaids'.

Last season, Colts won the Charity Cup, the Friendship Trophy and the Dudley Eve and also reached the FA Cup final, only to lose to North Village.

And the year before, they won the Friendship and the FA Cup, successes which came after an amazing streak of 18 straight cup final losses.

Skipper Shannon Burgess's fine defensive form and steadying influence have been crucial factors in Colts' continuing success, especially in a team which has shown only glimpses of its best this season. Several of Colts' triumphs in this campaign have come on the back of mediocre performances.

Colts, this season under new head coach Ray Jones, reached the final by ousting holders Dandy Town with a 2-1 semi-final victory, thanks to a stunning, last-gasp winner by Jermaine Belboda.

Wolves will doubtless regard Aljame Zuill as the Colts danger man. Zuill comfortably topped the domestic scoring charts last season with 24 goals and he has already found the net six times this season.

But the unpredictable `supersub' Marvin Belboda is also capable of turning a match with his direct running at defenders.

Wolves' route to the final was a tough one and in the semi-final they defeated league leaders North Village 1-0.

And they will be looking to Nathan Webb, Nakia Smith and livewire new signing Chae Simmons to come up with the goals to win the final.
