4-1 defeat of Saltus on Friday night at National Stadium.

Before a disappointingly small crowd, Northlands almost scored from their first attack as Toshmal Tucker slammed a 20-yard effort off the underside of the crossbar.

The first 20 minutes saw Northlands control possession, with Tucker and Jemeiko Jennings prominent in attack but unable to convert their dominance into goals.

Northlands escaped in the dying minutes of the first half as Saltus hit both uprights.

Northlands then made what would be a pivotal change to begin the second half, bringing on Sergio Augustus for Vance Darrell at left-back.

Intercepting a pass just inside his team's half, Augustus embarked on a sprawling forward run before unleashing a thunderbolt that crashed into the net.

Zee Lee then connected on a right wing cross from Neville Gumbs to double the advantage and within a minute, Lee, the school's leading scorer, added a second and Northland's third.

The fourth goal was perhaps the best as an eight-man move resulted in Tucker releasing Kwame Steede into the penalty area and he made no mistake with a firmly hit drive from 10 yards.

Saltus kept battling to the end and notched a consolation goal moments from the final whistle.
