A formidable field featuring 35 ponies in 22 races will be in store during holiday harness pony racing at Vesey Street on Monday.
Competition gets underway at 1 p.m. and the two feature races will come in the first and fifth events of the day with Showtime of Wilson's stables taking on the much improved El Grande from the Inwood stables and Tony Adcock's Diamonday, who is on a roll, going against Michael Roberts with Just a Gigolo and newcomer Miss L.L.Dane driven by David Mello expected to challenge.
Another new pony on the track, Speedway Jr. owned and driven by Francis DeSilva moves up to the 1:14-1:16/4 time bar. This youngster will be up against two track veterans in J.B's T.W. Belle and Mowtown Scott.
For the time being the Free For All will only have two ponies racing, Murray Terceira's Carolina Jubilee and Eddie The Great from the Inwood stables driven by Dal Vasconcelos.
BOWLING BOW Mixed Classic League leaders found themselves at the wrong end of a 13-7 result as they were upended by third place team Perfect Combination in recent action.
Roger Raynor spurred the underdogs with a 561 series, while Winnette Lottimore assisted with the women's high series 541.
Taking advantage were second placed Pro Staff, as they gained six points on the leaders by virtue of a 13-7 win over Us Until, behind a 561 series by Clem Lespere.
Pro Staff now have 11 points for the season and trail A&J Sportscards by 10.
Peaches and Cream dismissed Four Star Pizza 12-8. Loderick Holder played the key role, recording games of 216, 197 and 210, which gave him the men's second high series (623) and also contributed to Cream's overall tally of 2,143, best on the night.
The only other match saw Flagler Street barely squeeze by New Beginnings 11-9.
TABLE TENNIS PP The Bermuda Table Tennis Association is sponsoring a pair of clinics today and next Saturday at Elliott Primary School.
Frank Ternier of Montreal will conduct the clinics. Bermuda national squad players and other adults are invited to attend between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., while the youth of Bermuda can join in the action from 1 p.m. onwards.
