Aberdeen makes his mark at Augusta
emerging as one of the outstanding players in NCAA Division II play this season.
The nippy winger has been leading Augusta State University of Augusta, Georgia, to success with performances which have put him among the top scorers in the division.
Up to the end of September, Aberdeen ranked sixth in the Division's "top 25'' with eight goals and three assists for 19 points at an average of 3.17 points per match.
Aberdeen, a freshman, was also named Peach Belt Athletic Conference player of the week during a recent 9-0 thrashing of Johnson and Wales when he scored four times and had two assists.
There are, in fact, two Aberdeens on the Jaguars' roster as Quincy's younger brother Jermaine, a sophomore, is also part of a front line that ranks fourth in the division.
The school boasts quite an international flavour with nine of the players from foreign countries. Co-captains Neil MacDonald and Kevin Moreland hail from Scotland while two others come from Germany and two from Trinidad and Tobago.
Bermudians Lyndon Fubler and Jermaine Belboda attended the university up until 1995.
First-year coach Ron Keller went far and wide in his search for new talent.
"When I took the job in June we had only seven returning starters,'' said Keller. "I made it my first priority to get a good recruiting class.''
