Adams is given a year's ban over ref comments

being found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute for making a racial remark and swearing at referee Gregory Smith.

Adams is understood to have appealed against the suspension but the case has not been concluded following the original hearing dating back to October 29.

BFA General Secretary David Sabir has been reluctant to discuss the case because of its high degree of insensitivity because of the race element, but other BFA officials have privately wondered whether the case has been concluded or not.

The incident occurred during a stormy Commercial League game between BAA and North Village at BAA on October 17, the president was on the BAA bench at the time of the incident and acting as a team official.

Adams, who has since which resigned from his position at the club, has never denied the charges -- defending them by insisting that he was provoked by the official.

At the time Adams said of Smith: "Everything got out of hand. I wasn't the only one cursing him, even the opposition were cursing him.'' Referee Smith pointed out just days after the incident that Adams called him a "black *******'' but Adams revealed that his precise remarks were "prejudiced black *******.'' Adams also admitted that he had asked the bartender at the club to have Smith escorted off the premises as he was having a drink following the game.

The fact that the incident was made public was embarrassing to Adams who resigned as top executive of the club shortly afterwards -- a move which has apparently placed BAA in a quandary.

The club were scheduled to have a meeting last week to elect a replacement and appoint other officers but were unable to form a quorum and they continue to operate without a president.
