Affiliates to hear result of BFA election probe
president Neville Tyrrell will draw a stage closer to conclusion tomorrow.
A special general meeting of the BFA at Young Men's Social Club will hear the results of an investigation into the election procedure which saw Tyrrell take the post at the expense of challenger Mark Trott.
The wrangle centres on whether Honorary Vice-President Eugene Blakeney should have been allowed to preside over the meeting and cast the deciding vote when the count stood at 12-all.
The deciding vote went in favour of Tyrrell although the subsequent protests resulted in the matter going to arbitration.
A special committee, chaired by Austin Woods, was set up to investigate whether the procedure was lawful and the findings will be revealed to affiliates tomorrow.
Asked whether he had any inside knowledge on how the arbitration had gone, Tyrrell said: "It's out of my hands. I have no control over that. We have to wait for the honorary vice-presidents to come back and shed light on their deliberations.'' When asked whether he was hopeful the election result would be allowed to stand he replied: "I'm hopeful the sun rises tomorrow. I'm very, very ambivalent about the whole thing anyway.
"If I am president of the BFA you are going to get the best president that I can be, if I am not president of the BFA, as I've told people before, I'll go out on my boat.''
