All-Star squads begin training

scheduled for Friday, January 27 at National Stadium.

The best high school players from both the East and West are currently training under the watchful eye of coaches Arnold Manders and Jon Beard (East) and Mark Thorne and assistants Danny Seymour and Tim Figureido (West).

Both squads are expected to undergo at least 10 training sessions as competition for starting places hots up.

Again a host of overseas college coaches will be in attendance with a view to offering soccer scholarships.

Invitations have already been accepted by coaches from Columbia University, The University of Charleston, Howard University, Old Dominion University, George Mason University, The University of Nevada, Essex Community College and Rider College.

Presently there are some 15 former All-Star players attending colleges in the United States.

Training squads West: Michael Simons, Vernon Tankard, Carlos Moniz (all Northlands), Michael Smith, O'Neil Roberts, Kevin Zuill, David McHugh, Ian Morrison (Warwick Academy), Kofi, Blenn Bean, Thomas Smith, Temiko Flood, Devon Lambert, Kareen Hollis, Sri Wilson (Warwick Secondary), Damon Francis, Christopher Lewis, Tariq Robinson, Troy Hayward, Marco Butterfield, Michael Williams, Quincy Bean (Sandys Secondary), Ricky Carruthers (Mount St. Agnes).

East: Earl Bean, Chae Simmons, Cory Dowling (St. George's), Jahmiko Marshall, Jamiko Tucker, Ankoma Cannonier, Kevin Simpson, Vernon Phillips (Whitney), Daryl Fubler, David Thomas, Stephen Fahy, Ryan Matchum (Saltus), Adrian Burrows, Desmond Burgess, Denis Zuill, Harry Hunt, Kaiwon Dill, Wolde Place, Damon Ming, Kemo Smith (Berkeley).
