An estimated 200 spectators were on hand at Bernard Park over the weekend to witness a `blast from the past' as Boulevard's men of the 1970s squeezed past
The veteran players managed fight off the effects of age and stay upright long enough to provide an entertaining -- and often comical -- show, with proceeds going to the North Village youth programme.
Blazers' captain Oscar Samuels showed that he still has many of the touches that made him a feared attacker in his heyday, scoring two goals and being named Most Valuable Player for his side.
Assisting Samuels in the goal-scoring department were Warren Iris and Philip Doars who each netted one goal apiece.
For Town, Millet Gilbert shone bright and received a similar honour to Samuels as the other MVP, scoring once as did team-mates Malcolm Dill and Reginald (Snaps) Smith.
Meanwhile, the preceding match pitting female outfits Dandy Stars and Rude Girls produced a flurry of goals -- 10 in all -- with Stars emerging 9-1 victors as Merideth Brady led the way with a hat-trick and was duly named as the MVP.
Tallying once were Sharleta Brangman, Rebecca Sousa, Shawnette Smith, Terry Wolffe, Janelle Caines and Makeba DeShields.
Sakena Clarke doubled as Rude Girls leading scorer and MVP on the day.
Also rewarded at the conclusion were referees Cal Simons and Kenny Perinchief, with prizes for the event donated by Leroy Wilson and Jeffrey Trott Painting, while James Best of local traders Winter Cookson supplied refreshments.
Wilson noted that donations were still being accepted and those interested in making contributions could contact himself, Samuels or North Village Community Club.

CRICKET CRI The Commercial Cricket League's new season gets under way on Sunday but last night there were still doubts over the participation of two of the eight teams put into the schedule by secretary Dave Carruthers.
Stalwarts Devonshire Stars were due to hold a meeting last night to discuss their future in the league while Pembroke United, at first understood to have pulled out, have told Carruthers they want to continue despite losing a number of key players to BCBC Premier League side Nationals.
Cleveland County, who earlier expressed an interest in joining the league, are definite non-starters, Carruthers said.
The two newcomers, Bermuda Motors and St. David's, are both away in Sunday's first round of matches, taking on Sandys Sports Club and North Village respectively.
Defending champions Forties, who have lost most of their younger players to Nationals, are away to Pembroke while Devonshire Stars are at home to West Indian Association.
