Andreas Lewin and Derek Ratteray uncorked solid performances as they locked up first place in their respective divisions of the Mumm's Champagne Race at the

Alexis , helmed by Lewin, and Ratteray, aboard Taxi , were first to cross the line in the first and second classes respectively as the Bermuda Offshore Cruising Association (BOCA) attracted a good turnout. Fourteen boats competed in the three races over two days.

The Saturday event featured a 17-mile race from Hamilton Harbour into the Great Sound, then southward to Grace buoy, out along the North Shore to Shelly Bay and back to Dockyard.

The selected course was intentionally short due to light northerly winds, but the fleet made good progress.

Taxi was first across the line as Ratteray proved he has not lost a step despite a two-year break from racing. He was followed home by Lewin.

Brian Billings and Four Flags led the way in the third class while Greg Vasic, and his recently-purchased Reckless topped the cruising class.

There were back-to-back races on Sunday using an Olympic course format.

With the assistance of the Bermuda Yachting Association, and Chuck Millican, the courses were set without a hitch despite shifting winds. The light and variable northerlies put everyone's skills to the test as skippers searched for lifts and tried desperately to avoid headers on windward legs. Positions changed frequently creating some interesting and frustrating races.

Alexis and Taxi led the way to lock up the first two classes while Four Flags won the third class. Windrush , helmed by George Cubbon, took the title in the cruising class.

The next BOCA race will be held on Sunday, June 5.

DARTS DRT The Bermuda Darts Association's season finished recently with Gregory MacQueen winning two doubles titles. MacQueen teamed up with Terry Cartwright to win the mixed doubles event, beating Jimmy Pratt and Elizabeth Simons 3-1 for the title. Wayne Harvey was MacQueen's partner when the pair beat Pratt and Frankie Brewster in the open doubles final by the same score.

Ronnie Thorne took the honours in the open singles where he beat MacQueen 3-1 in the final. The champion of champions saw Wayne Harvey retain his title with a 10-1 record.

The final trophy up for grabs -- traditionally played for in the last game of the league -- was the Unicorn Championship which involved title winners. The winner of this year's trophy was Robert Percy from BAA III (Third Division) who shocked his opponents with a 6-2 record. Runner-up was Thorne of Sandys Boat Club I (First Division) with a 5-3 record.
