Another gold medal for swimmer King in Puerto Rico meet
breaststroke by .42 seconds as he picked up a second gold medal at the Caribbean Swimming championships in San Juan, Poerto Rico on day three.
The record has stood since 1984 but King decisively beat the rest of the field by over two seconds to set a new mark of 1:14.84. King also won a gold in the 200 metres breaststroke the day before.
The other medal for the day came from Stephen Fahy who claimed a bronze in the 15-17, 100 freestroke with a time of 54.32 seconds, taking Bermuda's haul to nine medals, three gold, a silver and five bronze.
Fahy stormed down the final 50 metres to overhaul all except Olympians Arsenio Lopez of Puerto Rico and Marcus Hernandez of Cuba. In the same race Stephen Troake finished sixth in his final year in the age group.
Other finalists were Nuri Lathan who was eighth in the 13-14 100 metres breaststroke, Trevor Ferguson who had a sixth in the 15-17 100 breaststroke, Craig Roberts (fifth in 15-17 100 free) and Trevor Ferguson who had a sixth in the 15-17 100 free. Also reaching finals were Troake in the 100 free and Tamika Williams who had an eighth in the 100 free for 15-17 girls.
