Bascome nets five goals in weekend spree

Heat's winning streak in the National Professional Soccer League to six matches.

In the first of two matches Harrisburg beat Buffalo 18-11 as Bascome scored twice and the following day the Bermudian netted another hat-trick in the 15-10 win over Kansas City which took his tally for the season to 35.

Presently Harrisburg are a half game out of second place as they begin a six game road trip.

"If we win this weekend (against second-placed Baltimore) we could be one game out of first place,'' said Bascome yesterday. "We are doing really well right now. Our next six games are on the road and we will be travelling for 14 days.'' Harrisburg's attendance was boosted to 8,000 for the home match against Buffalo in anticipation of United States goalkeeper Tony Meola making an appearance for Buffalo, having just been signed. Meola did not play.

"The crowds are starting to come out,'' said Bascome. "Tony's the big hype in the NPSL right now.''
