Bascome to take charge of Trojans
evening...understood to be former Boulevard and St. David's coach Andrew Bascome.
The Trojans, relegated for the second time in their history last season, have been searching for a coach since Randy Horton stepped down at the end of last season after failing to keep the team in the First Division in their first season back up.
Bascome was first linked with the Trojans back in May, though the club have been tight-lipped. Even now there has been no official confirmation of the appointment.
The club, anxious to assess their squad before the August 15 deadline for club rosters, have called a training session for this evening at Malabar Field at 6.30, followed by a meeting at 7.30 when the new coach will be in attendance.
Two players rumoured to be returning to Somerset are former top striker Rodney Bascome and midfielder Steven Mendes of Vasco. Bascome left the club when they were relegated the first time and joined Boulevard, saying he had no intention of playing in the Second Division.
Both players have applied for transfer releases from their current clubs.
