Three-time losers to Berkeley this season, Mount Saint Agnes finally beat their rivals in the Senior Girls final -- and did it without their coach.

With alumnus Melanie Garrett taking over for coach Bob Digiacomo, Mount Saint Agnes received a 13-point effort from Laura DeFrias on the way to a 39-31 win.

Tashae Thompson scored 19 points for Berkeley.

Berkeley made the final in every division the school entered, including Senior Boys, where they produced a 65-49 victory over Saltus.

John Barry Nusum scored 19 points for the winners, while Keith Caines poured in 20 for Saltus.

Berkeley also won the Middle School boys final while Spice Valley won the Middle School girls division. Saltus won the Under-15 boys title.

MOTOCROSS SCR Aaron Pace had to contend with Otis Ingham and Howard Paynter for overall honours in the penultimate round of the motocross Pepsi National Championships on Sunday.

Ingham got to the front in all the 125 motos, where he was put under pressure by Paynter, Pace and Justin Belboda, finally relinquishing first place to Pace. Ingham did, though, come first in the second moto after Pace ran into trouble.

The result pushed Pace into third place, 72 points off overall leader Charles Butterfield, who finished fourth in the afternoon's racing following a nasty crash.

Paynter swept aside the opposition in the 125C class after running with the 125B riders Pace and Ingham. Carlston Burgess Jr came second to stay 126 points behind Paynter.

Jimmy Lee Weaver became the fourth member of the 80cc class to win a race -- the first Kawasaki to take a first place in three years. Steven Panchaud won the other two motos to stay out front by 87 points from Sean DeSilva.

The 60cc class produced a new winner in Brandon DeSilva, two-time PW50 champion.

LADIES HOCKEY HOC A Karen Turner hat-trick helped propel Swallows back to the top of the Bermuda Ladies Hockey Association B Division on the weekend as they thrashed third-placed Canaries 6-1.

Jenny Burrell opened the scoring for Swallows before Turner slammed her three goals in quick succession, two from deflections and the third following a short corner.

Jan Locke extended Swallows lead while 'keeper Amy Dawson made a superb penalty flick save to deny Canaries who eventually got on the scoreboard through Kerry Quigley.

Hard-working Nicola Wilkinson scored Swallows' sixth to round out the scoring.

With just one game remaining, Swallows lead Bluebirds by a single point, although the Blues have a game in hand.

In other B Division action, Jessica Sousa's goal gave Cardinals a 1-0 victory over Swifts, who had earlier drawn 1-1 with Orioles, while Canaries and Orioles drew 0-0.

In the A Division, where Canaries have already wrapped up the title with two games still remaining, Swifts scored only their second win of the season, beating Orioles 1-0, but were then beaten 3-1 by Cardinals.
