Tonight at PHC Stadium (8.00) former leaders PHC entertain second-placed Somerset -- two of the four teams locked on six points.

The Zebras' flying start to the season was halted by their first loss, at the hands of North Village last weekend, as the Red Devils took over the top spot.

Against a Trojans team that has conceded just two goals in their four matches, PHC can expect another tough outing as both go into the clash knowing that the leadership is up for grabs -- if only until tomorrow.

Somerset are still unbeaten, having earned their points from two wins and two draws.

North Village have the best goal difference of the top four teams, having scored 13 goals and conceded just two while second-placed Somerset have scored five and conceded two. PHC are 9-6 and Dandy Town 5-3.

Tomorrow Village are at home to unpredictable St. George's as they bid to strengthen their hold on first place. St. George's have not beaten Village in the four matches between the teams since the East Enders returned to the First Division two seasons ago, drawing both in the 1992-93 season and losing 2-0 in each match last season.

Village should be favoured to extend that dominance though they will have to do without the services of top scorer Dennis Robinson whose third booking of the season in the Martonmere Cup on Tuesday night has earned him a one-match suspension.

Two new St. George's signings this season, striker Ricky Hill and Herbie Bascome, will be going up against their former team. But it is Clay Smith, top scorer with four goals, who could be the key man for St. George's, though he will need some support from the likes of Hill and Dean Minors up front.

Dandy Town will be hoping to bounce back from their midweek loss when they go against last-placed Devonshire Cougars.

Cougars are the only team in the division without a win, having dropped two more vital points at home to BAA last weekend which dropped them into the bottom spot. Unless they sort out their problems in key areas they could soon find themselves further adrift at the bottom.

It will be a tough period for Cougars because they follow up tomorrow's match with a meeting against old rivals Boulevard before taking on Village.

In what will be a prelude to the Martonmere Cup final next Friday, Boulevard and Vasco clash at St. David's. Both were successful in the Martonmere Cup in midweek though Boulevard's triumph over Village came at a price as key defender Leroy Stevens collected his third booking and will miss tomorrow's clash. The good news is he will be eligible for next week's final.

In tomorrow's remaining First Division match BAA will be bidding to add to last weekend's success, this time at nearby Frog Lane Field.

Colts are placed in the middle of the table on four points and victory should help them close in on one or two of the top teams. The home team should be firm favourites but BAA have already shown their determination to gain some respect.

DENNIS ROBINSON -- one match suspension.
