League, doing away with batting and bowling bonus points for this season.

The points will remain the same in the Overs League, which begins on May 31.

Two points will be awarded for a win and one for a tie.

But now in the Open competition 15 points will be awarded for a win, five for a draw and seven for a tied match.

No points will be given for a `no-result' -- matches that have either been abandoned before 30 overs have been bowled or not played for any other reason.

The points system, however, should still encourage teams to go for victories.

St. George's got the only win on Sunday and the 15 points were enough to put them in first place in the standings, even though they did not gain any points for their abandoned match the previous week.

The weather has had an impact on the first two rounds of league matches as only one result was produced in the four Premier Division games on Sunday. St.

George's, led by 96 not out from captain Clay Smith, beat champions Bailey's Bay at Wellington Oval to get into early contention.

The east enders lead four teams -- Western Stars, Devonshire Rec, Willow Cuts and Cleveland -- by five points. All four have drawn both their matches.

Warwick have got an early jump in the First Division where Flatts and St.

David's were tipped as the two promotion favourites. Warwick have won both their matches and lead by 15 points over Flatts whose opening day match with St. David's was abandoned as a no-result.
