at more than 12 runs an over to demolish Devonshire Stars in a Commercial Cricket League match.

Berkeley's hurricane knock at the Royal Naval Field contained nine sixes, 10 fours, one two and a single as Watford reached their target of 185 in the 16th over.

Forties, meanwhile, opened up a three-point lead at the top as their closest challengers, West Indian Association and North Village, fought out a draw.

Forties gained a fifth successive victory by handing Hemisphere Leg Trappers their third narrow defeat in a row at Nationals.

WIA took seven points to Village's three at Shelly Bay where WIA's Jerry Callender hit a half century and also took three wickets. Village's Dwight Paul enjoyed a five-wicket haul.

Sandys Community Youth Club became the first club to default a match this season when they were unable to raise a side for the trip to Lord's, handing the points to St. David's.

Club spokesman Gerald Fubler blamed Father's Day for the default and insisted: "It won't happen again.'' Teams face automatic expulsion if they default two matches.

After dismissing nine-man Devonshire Stars for 184, 10-man Watford, who had five key players away on a golfing trip, needed only 92 balls to clinch victory, despite losing their other opener, Andrew Paynter, for a duck.

When Berkeley was caught off Shane Grant three short of his century, Terry Ward (30 not out) and 17-year-old Trevor Corday joined the run spree, Corday smashing nine boundaries in his 42 not out.

Damion Henderson and Graham Strange, who featured in a club record unbroken third-wicket stand of 152 the previous week, again provided the backbone of Leg Trappers' 164 for seven with a stand of 80. Henderson hit six fours in his 44 while Strange made 30. Justin Freisenbruch, out to the last ball of the innings, weighed in with 35.

Slow bowler Hugh Hollis picked up two for 25 while Gordon Campbell took two for 31 before setting Forties on the road to a last-over victory. Campbell, with three half centuries under his belt already this season, made 32 while Gladwin Ingham struck two sixes and two fours in his 43.

Hollis chipped in with 21 and Tim Bridges, who hit the winning run from the first ball of the final over, made 20 not out. Robin White (two for 32) and David Hosier (two for 44) were the pick of the Trappers attack.

Patrick Hamlett and John McConnie (32) added 75 for the first wicket after WIA were sent in, Hamlett's 48 including seven fours while Callender hit two boundaries in his 66 that helped propel WIA to 219 for nine.

Medium pacer Paul, a former Cleveland County player, returned figures of five for 53 from nine overs while Mike Young took three for 57 from 13 overs. Chris Caisey, missing his new-ball partner Derek Bell, who was away, toiled for 18 overs, picking up one for 82.

The total was always out of Village's reach despite 66 from Andy Boyce, who struck 10 fours, and 30 from opener Shiran DeSilva and at stumps they were 155 for five. Callender claimed three for 40 from 13 overs while Randy Liverpool took two for 21.
