Bermuda's national swimming squad will be competing this weekend in Canada at the Waterloo Swim Club's Long Course Invitational Championships which take
Some 20 teams from across Canada involving as many as 400 swimmers are expected to take part in the meet.
For the Bermuda swimmers, the competition comes early in the season giving national coach Gareth Davies a chance to assess individual strengths and weaknesses.
Accompanying Davies on the trip to Ontario are Harbour Club's assistant coach Sara King and chaperone Tom Simmons.
The 17-strong Bermuda team is as follows: 10 & under -- Scott Simmons (Harbour), Darryl Steynor (Harbour).
11 and under -- Chris King (Harbour), Jimmy Pereira (Harbour), Graham Smith (Triangles), Travis Tucker (Harbour), Jonathan Herring (Sharks).
13-14 -- Elisha Miller (Harbour), Zoe Roberts (Sharks), Paul Fox (Harbour), Michael Pantry (Harbour), Stephen Troake (Harbour), Chris White (Harbour).
Open -- Tamika Williams (Sharks), Craig Ferguson (Harbour), Trevor Ferguson (Harbour), Nicholas Van de Weg (unattached).
BOWLING BOW Latest action in the Barritt's Sportsmen's bowling league saw Sparks clinch the league championship thanks to a comfortable 21-6 triumph over Buy and Sell who finished in second place.
Barritt's were spearheaded by Mike Lambe and Hank Rawlins who had respective high series of 587 and 570 for third and fourth best on the night. M.Smith rolled the high game of 207 for the losers while Jimmy Godwin scored a 205.
Third placed Pembroke Juniors were beaten 17-10 by Mini Forwarders for whom Ty Williams had the high series of 639 and top game of 246.
Dean Lightbourn led the losers with a 617 series, second best for the night, and a second high game of 226. W.W. Whites beat last placed Young Blood 17-10 behind Carlton Hayward who contributed a high game of 205. In the other game W.W. Reds beat Social Club 23-4.
Sparks topped the table followed by Buy and Sell, Pembroke Juniors, Mini Forwarders, Social Club, W.W. Reds, W.W. Whites and Young Blood.
CRICKET CRI Players selected for the BCBC President's XI and the Bermuda national team to play against the visiting Australian Test squad are required to attend a training session at St.John's Field on Tuesday, starting at 5.30 p.m.
