Best looks to beef up attack

was pleased with the under-20 team's performance against the Cayman Islands in the first leg of their CONCACAf Zone World Youth Cup qualifier on Sunday night which ended 0-0.

But it is goals that win games and that is something Best and head coach Dennis Brown will be working on ahead of tonight's second leg.

Best agreed one of the options would be to push John Barry Nusum from sweeper into a more attacking role to boost the attack.

"That a possibility, but we will decide on that later this evening,'' said Best yesterday, just prior to heading out to an afternoon training session.

"As a whole we defended fairly decent, they didn't have us under any pressure. We should have beaten them, it was just one of those things that the ball wouldn't go in. If we had capitalised on our chances we could have won by three or four.

"It was one of those games where if we had just broken the ice the floodgates would have opened. They just need to focus on being a bit more clinical with their finishing. If we can improve on that we should win.'' If the match is still tied after full-time tonight the game will go into extra-time with the first team to score winning the game. Failure to break the tie during that period will send the match into penalty kicks.

The dream for both Kyle Lightbourne and Shawn Goater of playing in the English First Division next season could be shattered this Sunday when Goater's team Manchester City travel to Stoke to meet Lightbourne's side in a do-or-die relegation clash.

Saturday results dropped both teams into the bottom three in the standings as City drew 2-2 at home to Queens Park Rangers and Stoke went down 3-0 away to promotion chasers Sunderland.

And with only one game remaining, there is only a very slim chance now of both teams avoiding the drop. City have never been outside the top two divisions in the English League.

In order for both to survive the teams will have to play to a 2-2 draw in front of a sellout crowd at Stoke's ground and then hope Portsmouth and Port Vale above them lose.

Manchester City moved to 45 points, one less than Port Vale, Portsmouth and Stoke. To break a deadlock in case teams are tied on points, goals scored are used and City have scored one goal less than Port Vale.

A high scoring draw between they and Stoke and losses by Portsmouth and Port Vale, without the latter scoring, would lift the two Bermudians' clubs clear of relegation. Portsmouth are away to Bradford while Port Vale travel to meet Huddersfield.

Bottom team Reading, who went down 1-0 to division leaders Nottingham Forest on Sunday, have already been relegated.
