BFA makes plea for Frog Lane assistance

yesterday moved to assure residents of the Frog Lane area that steps were being taken to avoid any inconvenience being caused by tomorrow's FA Cup quarter-final matches at Frog Lane field and Devonshire Recreation Club.

Sabir also appealed to those planning to attend either of the venues to show consideration to members of the community, who require access to their homes.

"We, the association, although it appears the issue has not been publicly addressed previously, want to let the residents of the Frog Lane Condominium Association know that we are concerned and supportive of their issues,'' said Sabir.

"Equally, we do not support the view taken by spectators who violate the property rights of the persons in this neighbourhood.

"The association would like to remind fans to cease parking on private property because at the end of the day we do not wish our fans to be known as supporters that violate the rights of the community.'' Sabir noted how police will be employed to aid in the direction of traffic to designated parking areas.

Residents have frequently voiced their disapproval regarding various functions taking place in the area, having previously targeted concerts being held during the summer as a point of concern.

Meanwhile, BFA president Charlie Marshall brought up another issue of fan abuse with regard to matches at BAA field.

Businesses on Serpentine Road, adjacent to the pitch have voiced concern regarding persons parking in the yard and those climbing on top of buildings and containers to gain a better vantage point.

Recently, damage was sustained to a communications tower when fans destroyed its cables.

"This only adds to the cost of running association football and this comes from people who don't pay anyway,'' Marshall said.
