BFA put finishing touches on squad
Bermuda's 18-man squad for the Pan-American Games in Argentina.
The squad, which leaves this weekend, includes Devonshire Cougars captain Shawn Smith and Vasco midfielder Karl Roberts as the two players over the age of 23 while college students Kimande Binns, Sean Simmons, Quincey Aberdeen and Janeiro Tucker were also among the list released yesterday by the Bermuda Football Association.
One absentee is Raynel Lightbourne, whose extra-time goal against Jamaica in the qualifying match in Kingston in December made it possible for the team to secure their spot for the Games.
Also missing from the trip to Jamaica is fullback Blenn Bean.
As expected the two goalkeepers are again captain Dwayne Adams and Timmy Figureido of BAA and Vasco while the squad also includes Andrew Rahman, Dano Outerbridge, Nakia Smith and Ottis Steede, who played key roles in the team's success in Jamaica. PHC's Shawn Simons and Jahmah Samuels of Devonshire Colts, both of whom missed the qualifying games in Jamaica, have also been included.
The team will be coached again by Mark Trott and he will be assisted by former national coach Gary Darrell who is on his first major overseas assignment since the 1992 World Cup qualifying matches.
Nelson Bascome will be head of the Bermuda delegation with Kevin Anderson the physio and Lynn Lambert the equipment manager.
