Novice goalie Denise Downey frustrated Orioles, allowing only a late goal after her team had taken a 3-0 lead. Georgi Barbosa and Rhonda Rawlins had given Canaries a 2-0 half-time lead with Julia Lillingston adding the other.
Goals by Sarah Maltby and Gayle Armstrong gave Bluebirds a 2-0 win over the Cardinals in the other A match.
In B play, Orioles beat Canaries 2-0 while Mary Traynor's late first-half goal lifted Bluebirds into a 1-1 tie with Cardinals.
