Bowler Jones fires breathtaking 290
fourth week of the American Airlines Bowling Spectacular at the Warwick Lanes.
There were two scratch series in the 700 bracket and seven in the handicap, but at the end of the evening it was Jones, Leverock and Harvey who received the bouquets.
Jones, one of Bermuda's representatives in the fourthcoming Pan American Games, opened his scoring with a 248 game and continued with scores of 201 and 290 for a 739 scratch series. In the context of a perfect 300 game, Jones' first frame let him down with a nine spare. All other frames were strikes.
Not to be left out, Kevin Swan won the first game in the scratch division with an outstanding 268 game while Harvey secured the second game with a whopping 276. Jones won the third with his 290 and he also won the high series prize with his 739.
Leverock reaped rewards in the handicap division. He under-bowled Jones by 21 pins in the scratch division, but his handicap allowance pushed him into first place over Jones in the handicap division.
Almost perfect: Antoine Jones rolled a 290.
